UBP Nicosia District Chairman, MP Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, In his post on his personal social media account on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Glorious Erenkoy Resistance, he pointed out that the Erenkoy Resistance symbolizes the desire of the Turkish Cypriot people for independence and the failure of Greek/Greek aggression.

Ahmet Savaşan’s post is as follows:

“The Erenköy Resistance, which we commemorate every year on August 8th, is one of the most important epics of the Turkish Cypriot people's struggle for existence. The fact that hundreds of young Turkish Cypriots, at the risk of risking their lives, interrupted their university education and came to Erenköy from abroad to join the resistance is a rare event in history. The Erenköy Resistance symbolizes the desire of the Turkish Cypriot people for independence and the failure of Greek/Greek aggression.

I commemorate our beloved martyrs who sacrificed their lives in this sacred struggle with mercy and our Erenköy veterans with gratitude. As a Turkish Cypriot youth, I am proud to be a part of this struggle.”
